Passover 2026 Sermon 1
God’s Feasts and the Story of Salvation – Why Christians Must Understand God’s Feasts
Pastor Ryan Perry
Good Hope Baptist Church
1 March 2026
Primary Texts: Colossians 2:17; Leviticus 23:2; Deuteronomy 16:16; John 5:39
DAY 1 — PASSOVER: SALVATION ACCOMPLISHED
Read: Exodus 12; Genesis 22:1-14; Luke 22:14–20; 1 Corinthians 5:7
Key Truth: God rescues His people through a substitute because He loves them.
Reflection Questions:
Practice:
Take 10 quiet minutes and write down three areas where you try to save, justify, or protect yourself (examples: approval seeking, overworking, fear of failure, moral performance).
Then pray: Jesus, thank You that You have already covered what I could never cover myself.
Choose one of the areas you wrote down.
Every time anxiety or self-effort rises that day, speak out loud: The Lamb has covered me.
Memory Verse: Exodus 12:13
DAY 2 — PENTECOST: SALVATION EMPOWERED
Read: Exodus 34:22; Acts 2; Ezekiel 36:26–27
Key Truth: God empowers His people by giving them His Spirit.
Reflection Questions:
Practice:
Morning prayer: “Holy Spirit, fill me and lead me today.”
Bedtime reflection: “Where did I follow the Spirit? Where did I ignore Him?”
Memory Verse: Ezekiel 36:27
DAY 3 — TABERNACLES: SALVATION COMPLETED
Read: Leviticus 23:33–43; John 1:14; Revelation 21–22
Key Truth: Jesus lives with His people through the Holy Spirit now and Jesus will come back and dwell with His people forever.
Reflection Questions:
Practice:
Choose one distraction (phone, social media, news, noise, etc.) to fast from for 24 hours to become more aware of God dwelling with you by His Spirit.
Every time you reach for the item, say: Holy Spirit, thank You for being with me and in me.
At morning, midday, and evening, pause for a few seconds and say: Holy Spirit, You are here. Help me be aware of Your presence.
Memory Verse: Revelation 21:3
DAY 4 — SEEING THE WHOLE STORY
Read: Luke 24:27; Colossians 2:17; Hebrews 10
Reflection Questions:
Practice:
Make a simple 3-column chart:
Passover — Pentecost — Tabernacles
Write one sentence under each describing what Jesus accomplished.
Memory Verse: Luke 24:27
DAY 5 — LIVING THE STORY
Read: Romans 8; Galatians 5; Revelation 21:1–5
Reflection Questions:
How does seeing Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles together deepen your understanding of the whole Gospel: rescue, empowerment, and presence?
Which part of God’s salvation story (rescue, empowerment, presence) do you understand most clearly now and which part do you need to grow in?
How does knowing the Gospel was planned, patterned, and prefigured across centuries change the way you trust God with your present circumstances?
Practice:
Choose ONE concrete action:
Identify one area where you still feel pressure to earn God’s approval, and rest in Christ’s finished work there.
Prayer: Jesus, I bring this to Your cross. I confess that I have been carrying what You have already completed. Teach me to trust Your blood, not my effort. Teach me to rest in Your sacrifice, not in my performance. You are my Passover Lamb. Your covering is enough for me. Your love is enough for me. Your work is enough for me. When I feel the pressure rise again today, remind me of Your truth: When you see the blood of Jesus you will stand between me and judgement. Holy Spirit, help me trust what Jesus has already done. Let my heart rest in Your finished work.
Memory verse: Philippians 1:6
