Passover 2026 Sermon 1
God’s Feasts and the Story of Salvation – Why Christians Must Understand God’s Feasts
Pastor Ryan Perry
Good Hope Baptist Church
1 March 2026
Primary Texts: Colossians 2:17; Leviticus 23:2; Deuteronomy 16:16; John 5:39
DAY 1 — PASSOVER (Jesus Rescues Us)
Read Together: Exodus 12:21–27
(Or for younger kids, read a children’s Bible version of the passage.)
Key Truth for Kids: Jesus rescues us because He loves us.
Talk About:
Why did God tell the families to put blood on their doorframes?
What kept the people safe that night?
How is Jesus like the Passover lamb?
What does this show us about how much God loves us?
Activity:
Draw or color a simple door, then use a red marker or crayon to mark the “top and sides.”
Say: This reminds us that Jesus covers us and keeps us safe.
Family Prayer: Jesus, thank You for rescuing us. Thank You for being the Lamb who loves us and covers us.
Memory Verse (simplified): Exodus 12:13 - When I see the blood, I will pass over you.
DAY 2 — PENTECOST (Jesus Helps Us by His Spirit)
Read Together: Acts 2:1–4
Key Truth for Kids: Jesus gives us the Holy Spirit to empower us.
Talk About:
What happened when the Holy Spirit came?
Why do we need the Holy Spirit?
What are some ways the Holy Spirit helps us today?
(Examples: be kind, be brave, tell the truth, love others, obey.)
Activity:
Blow up a balloon and let it go.
Ask: What happens when a balloon has no air?
Then say: Just like a balloon needs air, we need the Holy Spirit to help us.
Family Prayer: Holy Spirit, help us love Jesus and obey Him today.
Memory Verse (simplified): I will put My Spirit in you. Ezekiel 36:27
DAY 3 — TABERNACLES (Jesus Lives With Us)
Read Together: John 1:14
Key Truth for Kids: Jesus lives with us by His Spirit, and one day we will live with Him forever.
Talk About:
What does it mean that Jesus “lived” with people?
How is Jesus with us today?
What does it mean that God will live with His people forever?
Activity:
Build a small tent or blanket fort together. Sit inside and say: God lived with His people in tents, and Jesus lives with us now.
Family Prayer: This tent reminds us how God stayed with His people a long time ago. And today Jesus stays with us in our hearts by His Spirit.
Memory Verse (simplified): God will live with His people. Revelation 21:3
DAY 4 — SEEING THE WHOLE STORY (One Big Rescue Plan)
Read Together: Luke 24:27
Key Truth for Kids: The whole Bible points to Jesus.
Talk About:
How does Passover show Jesus rescues us?
How does Pentecost show Jesus helps us?
How does Tabernacles show Jesus lives with us?
Why is it exciting that Jesus is the center of the whole Bible?
Activity:
Draw three simple pictures:
A lamb (Passover)
A flame (Pentecost)
A tent (Tabernacles)
Ask your kids to explain each picture in their own words.
Family Prayer: Lord, thank You for showing us Jesus in the whole Bible. Help us see Him everywhere.
Memory Verse (simplified): The Scriptures show us all about Jesus. Luke 24:27
DAY 5 — LIVING THE STORY (With Jesus Every Day)
Read Together: Revelation 21:1–5
Key Truth for Kids: Jesus rescues us, helps us, and stays with us.
Talk About:
Which part of the story do you love most: Jesus saving, helping, or staying with us? Why?
How can we remember this at home? At school? With friends?
What’s one way we can love Jesus this week?
Activity:
Make a “Jesus Is With Me” card.
Write or draw one place your child wants to remember that Jesus is with them (school, playground, bedtime, etc.)
Family Prayer: Jesus, thank You for rescuing us, helping us, and staying with us. Help us walk with You this week.
Memory Verse (simplified): God will finish the good work He started in you. Philippians 1:6
