Fully Known, Fully Loved: Encountering Jesus

Big Idea:
Jesus meets us where we are, not where we pretend to be. He fully knows our story and still fully loves us. Just like the woman at the well, we are invited into a life-giving relationship with the Savior who offers living water and unconditional grace.
Introduction:
Many walk through life wearing masks, afraid that if people knew the real them, they couldn’t be loved. But God sees past the façade. In John 4, Jesus breaks social, racial, and religious barriers to reach a woman who believed she was unworthy. Through her story, we encounter the heart of Jesus, who sees us, knows us, and still chooses us.

Key Points:
  1. Jesus had to go through Samaria (John 4:4)
    • Not by geography but by divine purpose. Jesus went where others wouldn’t—to restore those others rejected.
  2. The woman at the well felt unworthy.
    • Her past, shame, and isolation led her to draw water alone. Yet Jesus sought her out.
  3. Jesus offers living water (John 4:10-14)
    • A metaphor for the Holy Spirit—eternal life, satisfaction, and restoration. Jesus meets not just her need for water, but her soul’s deepest thirst.
  4. Jesus reveals her truth with compassion (John 4:16–19)
    • He names her pain, her story, without condemnation. This moment affirms she is seen, known, and loved.
  5. Jesus invites true worship (John 4:20–24)
    • Not about location or tradition, but heart and truth. Anyone, anywhere, can be restored to a relationship with God.
  6. Jesus reveals His identity (John 4:26)
    • “I who speak to you am He” — the Messiah to a marginalized woman, not a religious elite.
  7. Her life changes immediately (John 4:28–30)
    • She leaves behind her water jar and runs to tell others. The rejected becomes a revivalist.
  8. Her testimony brings salvation to many (John 4:39–42)
    • One woman’s encounter with Jesus transforms an entire community.

Conclusion:
Just like her, you may feel unloved or disqualified. But Jesus already knows your story, and He still calls you. Come to Him—not with your mask, but with your truth. Leave your “water jar” behind. Come to the well that never runs dry. Come to Jesus—fully known, fully loved.
