When Truth Came Near — Why Christmas Demands a Response

Thesis:
Christmas is rightly celebrated when the truth about Christ moves from knowledge to understanding and results in obedient response.

Verses:
Proverbs 14:12; John 1:9–14; Matthew 7:24; Romans 1:19–21; James 4:17

Christmas is not merely information to be acknowledged —
it is truth that has come near and demands a response.

Scripture teaches that knowledge alone is not the goal.
Truth must be received in a way that governs how we live.

This morning we will see:

• Why knowing the truth is not the same as obeying it
• How Joseph models faith that submits
• How Herod reveals the danger of resisting truth
• Why the incarnation removes all excuses

When God did not merely speak truth, but wrapped it in flesh, neutrality was no longer an option.

Knowledge is truth made available. Understanding is truth rightly received. Obedience is truth fully known.

For Reflection:
When truth comes near, it always reveals what rules the heart. Will we allow Christ to rule us — or will we try to rule over Him?
